You’ve done a lot to take care of yourself and keep life moving forward. From the outside, things may look steady or even successful, but internally you might feel disconnected from yourself, your body, or what you actually need.

Sometimes this shows up as pushing through exhaustion or staying busy so you don’t have to slow down. Other times it’s more subtle, a sense that you understand yourself but still feel stuck in patterns that don’t fully make sense.

You may have tried therapy before or explored different ways of working on yourself. You’ve gained insight, perspective, maybe even relief at times, and still feel like something important hasn’t quite shifted.

As a Boca Raton somatic therapist, I work with adults who are ready for therapy that includes both mind and body. Many people come in already sensing that lasting change involves working with their nervous system, not just thinking differently about their experiences.

Somatic therapy brings your thoughts, emotions, and physical experience into the work together. We slow down enough to notice how stress and past experiences have shaped your responses and begin building capacity in a way that feels steady and integrated.

This is collaborative, experiential work that helps you reconnect with yourself, respond with more flexibility, and move through life with greater clarity and choice.

When You’re Ready To Include Both Mind and Body in Therapy

Somatic therapy that brings insight and the body into the work together

You may already understand yourself well and still feel like something hasn’t fully shifted. This work brings emotional depth and the body into therapy so change can happen on more than just a mental level.

Sessions often move between conversation and slowing down together to notice what is happening in your body and emotional life in real time, sometimes through somatic practices and other times by simply staying present with what is unfolding.

Over time, many people notice shifts such as:

• Feeling more aligned between insight and experience
• Recognizing patterns earlier without overanalyzing
• Feeling more grounded and responsive in their body
• Making choices that feel clearer and more intentional

About Me

Boca Raton Somatic therapist, Amy Hagerstrom

Hi, I’m Amy.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) offering online therapy for adults in Boca Raton and throughout Florida.

I spent many years in talk therapy, and while it helped in some ways, the effects on my mental health felt limited. It was not until my body was brought into the healing process that things began to shift and feel more sustainable.

Now I am especially drawn to working with thoughtful adults who sense that what they are carrying lives in their body and nervous system as much as in their thoughts. I offer a steady, collaborative space to explore that at a pace that feels workable for you.

If you are in Boca Raton or anywhere in Florida, I would be honored to support you.

What is Somatic Therapy?

Soma means body. Somatic therapy integrates the body into the therapeutic process because thoughts, emotions, sensations, and experiences continuously influence one another. When we include the body, therapy supports change in a way that feels more complete and sustainable.

In sessions, we make space for your thoughts, emotional experience, and nervous system responses. We work with fight, flight, freeze, and shutdown patterns in real time, helping your system move toward greater felt safety. As you share, I may invite awareness of your internal experience so we remain connected to the present moment.

Some sessions are quiet and focused inward, while others include gentle somatic practices that support your nervous system in shifting out of old patterns. These moments allow your body to respond in new ways while you remain grounded and supported.

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is always the foundation of my work. When appropriate, we may incorporate the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) or Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) as additional supports.

If you live in Boca Raton or anywhere in Florida and this resonates, you can learn more about how I work by visiting the homepage or reaching out to explore whether this support feels right for you.

This work may resonate if you notice patterns like:

• Feeling anxious or unsettled even when things appear fine on the outside
• Noticing strong stress responses such as bracing or pulling back
• Experiencing physical symptoms like fatigue, tension, digestive concerns, or chronic pain
• Feeling that talking alone hasn’t reached deeper layers of experience
• Recognizing that pushing through no longer feels sustainable
• Feeling drawn toward a mind-body approach to therapy

Integrative Support That Considers the Whole You

Two adults in a calm yoga pose, reflecting moments of connection with the body and how movement can support nervous system and emotional health.

In addition to somatic therapy, I’m a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. This means we can also look at lifestyle and health factors that influence mood, energy, and nervous system resilience, including sleep, nutrition, light exposure, movement, stress load, and daily rhythm.

When it feels relevant, we’ll explore where small shifts might support the work we’re doing in therapy. And if it would be helpful to bring in more support, I can offer referrals to trusted professionals, such functional or integrative practitioners, dietitians, and other wellness providers.

The goal is simple: to support your mental health in a way that includes the full picture of you.
