When Insight Isn’t Enough, Somatic Therapy Helps You Go Deeper
Online somatic therapy services for adults in Delray Beach, FL.
You’ve been holding a lot together for a long time. From the outside, life may look steady, but inside you may notice more tension, emotional weight, or changes in how your body handles stress.
Sometimes this shows up as feeling more on edge or checked out. Other times it’s physical: fatigue, tightness, or a sense that your system just doesn’t bounce back the way it used to.
You may have tried therapy before and gained insight and perspective, yet still feel like something important hasn’t quite shifted.
As a somatic therapist in Delray Beach, I work with adults who are ready to move beyond insight alone and into a more experiential, body‑based process. Many people come in already sensing that real change will involve noticing what their nervous system has been carrying, not just talking things through.
Somatic therapy brings your mind, emotions, and body into the work together so you can begin to build capacity in a way that feels grounded and sustainable.
Somatic therapy that brings emotional depth and the body into the work together
You may have already spent a lot of time thinking, reflecting, or talking things through. This work makes space for emotional depth and for your body to be part of the process too.
Sessions often move between conversation and slowing down together to notice what is happening in your body and emotional life in real time, sometimes through somatic practices and other times by simply staying with the felt sense of the moment.
Over time, many people notice shifts such as:
Staying more connected to themselves when emotions rise
Recognizing familiar reactions earlier
Feeling more grounded in their body without forcing anything
Responding with more choice instead of default patterns
About Me
Hi, I’m Amy.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional based in Delray Beach. I work with thoughtful adults who have often done a lot of inner work already but still sense that something deeper in their body and nervous system needs attention.
I do this work because somatic therapy played an important role in my own mental health and helped me feel more at ease in everyday life. I bring a steady, collaborative style and a curiosity about what your nervous system has been carrying, so we can make room for real change at a pace that feels manageable for you.
In my work with clients in Delray Beach and across Florida, I include your body and nervous system in the therapy process. We pay attention to how stress and trauma are affecting you right now, not only to the story of what happened, so your system has space to move toward more steadiness over time.
What You Might Be Experiencing
-
You’ve grown and you’ve healed, but your body still tightens or suddenly feels like it is on high alert without warning. It can feel like there are traces of the past that haven’t quite cleared and your system reacts before you have time to think.

Even when things are calm, your body feels restless: tight chest, fluttery stomach, a sense that something is off or that something bad could happen. You want to feel more at ease, not always managing fear in the background.

You’ve been reevaluating how you spend your time and what really matters. Even with a full life and many people you care for, something feels missing, and you’re ready to show up more fully for yourself, not only for everyone else.

What Is Somatic Therapy?
Soma means body. Somatic therapy brings the body into the process because thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and life experiences are not separate from one another. What happens in the mind affects the body, and what the body senses shapes how we feel and respond. Including both allows change to happen in a more integrated way.
In sessions, there is space for thoughts, emotions, and the body. We stay connected to your stress responses in real time, helping your system move toward a greater sense of felt safety. As you talk about something meaningful, I may ask what you notice in your body so we stay connected to what is happening right now rather than only thinking about the past or future.
Sometimes the work is quiet and inward. Other times we may gently lean into a response through small somatic practices that support your nervous system as it begins to soften. These moments help your body experience something different while you stay present and supported.
In our work together, Somatic Experiencing (SE) is always the foundation. When it feels appropriate, we may also bring in the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) or the Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) as additional supports.

Integrative Support That Looks at the Full Picture
Along with somatic therapy, I incorporate an integrative mental health perspective. This means we can consider how sleep, movement, nutrition, stress load, and daily habits may be influencing your emotional well-being and nervous system.
Sometimes patterns in the body offer important clues about what’s needed. When it makes sense, we may explore practical adjustments that support resilience alongside the deeper work we’re doing together.
I can also provide referrals to trusted functional or integrative professionals when additional support would be beneficial.
The focus remains the same: helping you feel more supported as a whole person.
