Support That Includes Both Mind and Body, Not Just Insight

Online somatic therapy services for adults in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

If you’re holding it together on the outside but noticing more strain in your emotional life and in your body underneath, you may be starting to wonder why things haven’t shifted despite everything you’ve tried.

Stress and past experiences often show up in the body as tension that never fully settles, emotional reactions that feel bigger than you expect, or moments when you shut down even when part of you wants to stay present.

As a somatic therapist serving adults in Fort Lauderdale and throughout Florida, I work with people who sense that real change will involve more than talking through things and are ready to include the body in their healing.

When Holding It Together is Feeling Like Too Much

Somatic therapy supports both emotional depth and the body. It creates space to slow down, notice what your nervous system has been carrying, and include more than what you can explain with words.

In our work together, we move between conversation and somatic practices to notice what is happening in your body and emotional life in real time. Sometimes that means simple nervous system exercises, and other times it looks like staying present with the felt sense of the moment.

Over time, many people notice shifts such as:

  • Feeling less pulled into automatic stress responses

  • Recognizing tension or overwhelm earlier

  • Experiencing more steadiness in their body

  • Responding with greater flexibility instead of reacting from old patterns

About Me

Hi, I’m Amy.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional offering online therapy for adults in Fort Lauderdale and across Florida.

Somatic therapy became an important part of my own healing many years ago. Once my body was included in the process, my mental health felt more stable, my relationships felt safer, and I no longer felt so driven by old patterns.

Because of that experience, I’m especially drawn to working with thoughtful adults who sense that their body and nervous system are still carrying more than talking alone has been able to reach. I offer a steady, collaborative space to explore this together at a pace that feels workable for you.

What You Might Be Going Through

You may recognize parts of yourself in more than one of these areas.
Some people arrive feeling anxious or overwhelmed. Others notice old patterns or deeper emotional pain becoming harder to ignore, even when life looks steady from the outside.

  • Even if the past feels far away, your body might still be reacting. You may shut down, feel disconnected, or get overwhelmed by things that seem small.

  • You might look calm on the outside but feel unsettled inside, like your body is bracing or your mind will not slow down. You want more than coping tools and are ready to work with what your nervous system has been carrying.

  • You are managing a lot and doing your best to hold everything together, yet it is getting harder to ignore the strain on your body and emotional life. You may feel burned out, less well physically, and unsure whether the life you have built still fits who you are now.

What is Somatic Therapy?

Soma means body, or the living body as a whole.

Somatic therapy brings your body into the therapeutic process, working with thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations together because what you go through shows up in your nervous system as well as your mind.

In our sessions, we pay attention to how your body responds to stress and to what helps you feel more settled and supported. Somatic Experiencing (SE) is the foundation of my work, and when helpful we may also integrate the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) or the Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) as additional nervous system supports.

  • Sensing that talking alone hasn’t fully reached what’s happening inside

  • Realizing that pushing through isn’t working the way it once did

  • Feeling drawn to therapy that includes both mind and body

Integrative Mental Health Support

In addition to somatic therapy, I am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. This means we can look at how lifestyle and health factors may be affecting anxiety, stress, and nervous system regulation.

We may gently explore things like sleep patterns, daily rhythm, movement, or nutrition, noticing where small changes could support the work you are already doing in therapy. If needed, I can connect you with trusted integrative practitioners who align with this mind–body approach.

The intention is to support your mental health in a way that reflects the whole person, not just isolated symptoms.
