When You're Looking for More Than Traditional Talk Therapy
Online somatic therapy services for adults in West Palm Beach, FL.
You may have spent years trying to understand yourself through traditional talk therapy, books, podcasts, or other forms of personal growth. That work may have helped in meaningful ways, yet you may still find yourself reacting in ways that don't match what you know intellectually.
Stress may show up as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, shutting down, or physical symptoms like tension, fatigue, headaches, or digestive discomfort. Even when you understand why it's happening, those patterns can be difficult to change.
I provide online somatic therapy for adults in West Palm Beach and throughout Florida who are looking for an approach that includes both the mind and body. Many people come to me because they're ready to build on the insight they've already gained with a more experiential approach.
When Talk Therapy Has Taken You Part of the Way
You may already understand a lot about yourself and where your patterns come from. That insight can be valuable, yet you may still find yourself reacting in ways that don't match what you know or intend.
By working with thoughts, emotions, the body, and the nervous system, many people begin to notice changes such as:
Feeling less overwhelmed by everyday stress
Recovering more quickly after difficult moments
Responding with more choice instead of reacting automatically
Feeling more present in their relationships
Moving through life with greater flexibility and resilience
About Me
Hi, I'm Amy Hagerstrom.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional offering online therapy for adults in West Palm Beach and throughout Florida.
Earlier in my life, I spent many years in talk therapy. It was helpful in some ways, but it only took me so far. Things began to shift when my body became part of the work. I felt less overwhelmed, became less ashamed of my reactions, and began to understand that many of them made sense in the context of what I had experienced.
Because of that experience, I'm especially drawn to working with thoughtful adults who want therapy that includes both the mind and body. Together, we'l explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and the patterns that shape your life while also paying attention to what's happening in your body and nervous system in the present moment.
If you're in West Palm Beach or anywhere in Florida, I'd be honored to support you.
What You Might Be Navigating
-
You may have been through experiences that still shape how you move through the world today. Even when you know you're safe, you might find yourself becoming overwhelmed, shutting down, staying on guard, or reacting in ways that don't seem to match what's happening in the present. These patterns often develop as ways of coping with experiences that once felt too much to manage.

You spend a lot of time anticipating what could go wrong or feeling like you always need to stay one step ahead. Your mind rarely slows down, and it can be difficult to relax, stay present, or trust that things will work out. Even small stressors can leave you feeling overwhelmed or exhausted.

Life may look successful from the outside, but something feels different than it used to. The strategies that helped you manage work, relationships, caregiving, or everyday stress don't seem to be working the way they once did. You find yourself wondering what needs to change, even if you can't quite put it into words.

What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy includes both your mind and body in the therapy process. Along with exploring your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns, we'll also pay attention to what's happening in your body in the present moment. This often helps us understand reactions and patterns that continue to show up, even when you know why they're happening.
As we talk, I may ask what you're noticing physically or emotionally in the moment. Sometimes we'll simply stay with those experiences. Other times, we may explore what your body might be needing in that moment through small, gentle experiments that support greater regulation, flexibility, and resilience.
My work is grounded in Somatic Experiencing (SE). When it fits your goals, we may also incorporate the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) or the Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) as additional supports.
This work may be a good fit if you:
Have gained insight but still find yourself reacting in ways you wish you wouldn't.
Notice yourself bracing, shutting down, or becoming emotionally overwhelmed under stress.
Live with ongoing physical symptoms such as fatigue, muscle tension, digestive issues, headaches, or chronic pain.
Feel like you've outgrown the ways you've coped for years but aren't sure what comes next.
Are curious about an approach that includes both your mind and body.
Approaches I May Incorporate
-

Somatic Experiencing
The foundation of my work. A body-based approach that includes both your mind and body in the therapy process.
-

Rest and Restore Protocol
A music-based listening therapy that may be incorporated to support deep rest, regulation, and recovery.
-

Safe and Sound Protocol
A music-based listening therapy that may be incorporated to support emotional regulation, connection, and a greater sense of safety.
An Integrative Approach
Somatic therapy is the foundation of my work, and I also bring an integrative perspective to our sessions. Along with what happens during therapy, we may explore how sleep, movement, nourishment, time outside, stress, and other aspects of daily life are affecting how you feel.
Sometimes small changes outside of therapy can make it easier to build on the work we're doing together. When appropriate, I may also recommend additional resources or refer you to trusted professionals who can provide support in other areas.
